| Hi there. Welcome to AFTER LIFE, a game based in the world of Severance! This post is meant to serve as a sort of meet and greet: a starting point for OOC chatter about which characters you may like to bring to the game, what your plans for them are, if your character needs a housemate, etc. Hopefully this will make the application process much easier! i don't have any concrete character plans at the moment (beyond "silco maybe," hence using this journal to comment) but you all know who my blorbos are. but for the sake of making a mod comment that makes it clearer what this post is for: WERE i to app silco, i'd say he wouldn't work at lumon and has some sort of job in town, and likely be severed at the moment of his death in canon. (in the event i can bully one of you into apping jinx, i'd probably still go this route but maybe consider making him a perma-innie wellness counselor. 😇) actually i keep thinking of New Scenarios so just get back to me on this.
eta: for some further examples of stuff you can do with your character, when i initially built this game i thought of playing galadriel and listing her reason for severing as her grief wrt the deaths of her brothers/being subjected to disbelief by her own people, and have her sever once again to work at lumon to try to forgot the memory of her brother dying in a “car accident.” i also thought about apping littlefinger in as a manager (not severed) who would tell whoever his “wife” was not to work at lumon. what i’m trying to say is that the world is your oyster and i’ll happily work with you to figure out a way to make a character work.

eta 2: my three main contenders are probably silco (undetermined), astarion (perma-innie), and galadriel (depressed manager). change my mind.

kristen bouchard for a wellness coach with the personality of helly, very much willing to fuck everything up when she starts to realise things Are Off. likely severed because she needed the money to look after her four daughters and because she, as a psychologist, was encouraged to do so or be left behind.
more traditional hard worker busy bee bossy girl types like nancy wheeler and cordelia chase as early career, eager to advance, fresh faces.
and forever boy gale as a department head rule follower innie, irv-coded. outtie role as a pro severance scientist whose Wife is high up at lumon and encouraged him to take this job 😮💨
jinx/powder also has potential because then i could use icons of her cute au hair. like the idea of playing someone sciency. maybe she and silco both “died” in a car crash for causing problems around kier/putting their noses where they didn’t belong after her mother disappeared.

jinx/powder au hair icons is so big brain .... also i have a million thoughts on this including 1) both perma-innie is FASCINATING to me esp if anyone outside knows they died 2) assigned different houses/families outside, assigned to the same department inside??? 3) jumping straight OR LEADING into silco reintegration and finding her outside because he would hate working there even memory-wiped lmao. i am sure i will have 10 more thoughts tomorrow but for now i lay these at your feet. 🙂↕️

i am gonna wait to see if/what new departments they introduce in s2 to say anything for sure BUT if nothing ... maybe o&d ... also i can't wait for their innies, like how wild will she be/how tolerant will he be of her lacking their canon relationship and context 😮💨

i think i'm set on dorian in a game with salt, but i have shadowheart whom i have done nothing with so far and i think she'd be neat...other kids i've played/canon reviewed for recently enough incl astarion, jayce, viktor, spike, giles???, lisbeth salander from 2010 gwtdt could be interesting and an easy canon review

i think if there's anyone you're feeling passionately about then there WILL be a way to integrate them for maximum pain, esp with characters like lisbeth who like ... would she no longer be goth if she lost all her memories???? would viktor drink the lumon koolaid for the sake of Science? much to ponder 👀

re: his job i think it's fine for him to have a "normal" job in town and basically say the deal wrt his parents and lumon was that he's "working" for lumon by participating in this experiment?

the job setup sounds good! librarian ... grocery store clerk ... especially if it was a really fancy wellness-oriented grocery store. i'll consider.

james bond (needs a canon review! very badly!), and in the event i did, i am deeply into the vibe of "i thought i just sold books and was severely into lawn care, but i keep, horrifyingly, knowing stuff" (severed cause: up in the air! but also, he's died like, 60 times?). i don't imagine he'd work at lumon, but that, also, is a possibility.
other outliers are: natasha romanoff of mcu fame (more spies!), booker from the old guard (severed because he fucked it all up; still depressed! perhaps married with a family so i can go the "these are not my beautiful children, this is not my beautiful wife" route?), or joan holloway from mad men (i heard some of you need A WIFE).

YEAH i'm kind of like leaning on the fence about it. a lot of things will likely be finalized as you say with a rewatch and s2 - if i had to pick (1) hypercompetent man who has a normal life and a drinking problem, it would be either booker or bond. i'm rly into the idea of joan but she's already so normcore that i DO need to seriously think about what my intentions with her would be. diehard lumon employee?? "of course this is fine the brochure says it's fine, honey do you want potroast"??

i think the period shift is fun re: joan and also like … figuring out what her priorities are in a word where being a woman doesn’t limit her career, etc. like would she go along with lumon’s bs if she were aware of it? would finding out change her mind? but also loooove the idea of her being complicit???

too many people i'd like to bring into this, but immediately thought of nancy and can't get the brain worms to leave.
journalist whose ambition has always been to expose corruption and reveal hidden truths. she takes the position at lumon, not for the paycheck but to investigate the company's mysterious practices after receiving an anonymous tip linking them to unethical experiments and disappearances. willingly undergoes the procedure in hopes of figuring out and exposing what's really going on.
two options for an innie:
option one: her innie is meticulous, sharp, and deeply curious. even without her outie's memories, her natural drive for discovery pushes her to question the strange things she sees. notices discrepancies in reports, overhears cryptic conversations, and begins documenting her findings in a secret journal she hides in her office. she also struggles with guilt and fear as she doesn't understand why she feels so driven to uncover truths that might put herself in danger.
option two: maybe lumon's aware that she might be trying to dig up information on what's going on; they assign her to a secretarial position in the archives department where she's tasked with transcribing, filing, and cataloging company records. the role feels stifling and meaningless, dominated by mindless clerical tasks that sap her energy and creativity. i'd love for her to be forced to work under a condescending manager (perhaps an eagan zealot) who expects her to adhere to rigid "proper office conduct" rules — demeanor, dress, and deference. putting her into the stereotypical role of a woman secretary. boss/secretary stuff 🥵
